How To Prepare For Photo Day

August 07, 2025

The countdown is on – I can’t wait for your session! 💛

It’s almost time to capture some beautiful memories together. Here’s a little guide to help you feel prepared and relaxed for our special day.

Bring your inspiration

  • Screenshot any photos or poses you love and would like included. I’ll let you know if they’re possible or you can simply put your trust in me to create something beautiful.

Pack your bag

  • Bottle warmer, hot water, formula (I have a kettle if you need)

  • Nappies, wipes, burp cloth

  • Any outfits you’d like baby in, or you’re welcome to use my swaddles (babies are often swaddled to help keep them settled)

If siblings are joining

  • Bring along entertainment, snacks, or a little reward

  • iPad if you wish – I also have a basket of toys and books here

Preparing older siblings

  • Gently prepare them that the shoot is coming up

  • Practice poses at home on your phone so they feel confident

Getting here

  • Check maps ahead of time so you know your travel time

  • You’re welcome to park in my driveway, so there’s no need to stress about parking

  • If you’re coming from further away, let me know – I can recommend some lovely cafés, restaurants, and shops nearby to make the most of your day out

On the day

  • Try to keep baby awake before the session and time a feed for when you arrive – but please don’t stress if they need an extra feed during the shoot. This is very common on session days.

  • It’s also perfectly fine if baby is awake for some of their photos (I even have a blog post about this!)

Special touches

  • Bring along any heirlooms, knits, or special items you’d like included in your photos

For you

  • Choose and set out your outfits a few days before so you feel calm and ready

I’m so excited for our special day together. Please reach out any time if you have questions.

P.S. If you’d like to see examples of siblings with babies, there are some beautiful ones on my Instagram page for you to peek at before your session. 💛
